D-Backs/Yankees Game

Well, I finally knew what it was like to be a Diamondbacks fan for one day! Let me tell you in the 2010 season that ain't saying much as we witnessed a 6-5 win by the Yankees in 10 innings. But, while in the desert why not root for the home team even if it is a bad version of the AZ club. It doesn't matter who is playing as a matter of fact because I was just enjoying a new major league experience and had a wonderful time with family at the game. My brother-in-law gave me a post birthday gift experience at Chase Field and despite sitting around numerous Yankee fans (as I am a Yankees Hater), we enjoyed quite close to the field almost behind home plate! I would have to estimate that half the crowd were Yankee fans, but in my estimation many were wannabe fans who were loyal to the Yankees because they win so much. The reason I say this is because multiple fans lived out west and not even born in NY. Let's just say they more than likely acted like Yankees fans though being quite obnoxious later in the game with security coming around our section twice. No, despite my love of the game, I do behave myself with the common cheering that goes on at a baseball game. My wife on the other hand? Anyway, the place was packed and was quite the atmosphere for a regular season game. It wasn't the 2001 World Series or anything where Luis Gonzalez heroics happened or anything, but not bad. It's interesting how teams without a long rich tradition hang on to the good old days as there were video highlights of the 2001 World Series to help the suffering D-Backs fans remembers the years of lore! I did my best to join in the atmosphere of the home team by wearing the inaguaral 1995 jersey. I believe this is right, but somebody correct me if I'm wrong. A dear friend of mine in the Springs spent some time growing up in AZ and lent me the jersey. No, I did not buy one for myself and become a traitor of the Rockies. In a way, I may have traded sides for one day, but had to enjoy the moment. I relished it all even when Arizona's god awful bullpen gave up the game in the 9th. I even basked in the festivities when the D-Backs couldn't get a run across in the 10th against Mariano Rivera despite loading the bases with no outs to lose 6-5! Oh well, it was a major league game in a new setting for me and nothing else mattered! Just wanted to share my experience with you all and hope you enjoyed the pics.
