Most Interesting Add Transactions of the Past Week #1
Swami Takes Time For an Analysis Review
I thought it would be interesting for the Swami to review the add/drops and waiver wire moves made in the first week of league activity. Keep in mind, I don’t know what was in anyone’s head and their reasoning behind their transactions. Rather, think this as an outsiders view of what going on in the league.
The following report does not include the add/drop moves immediately following or draft. Those changes were reflected in the Roster Grids I sent to all of you, along with the Swami’s 2010 forecast for all teams and predictions as where they finish at the end of the regular season period.
Last – comments were made at the time of the transaction. Subsequent activities or status of the players may of changed since.
Baseman
A proven and valuable backup catcher.
Stars
A very good SP prospect and pickup Swami believes.
Swami said this move does make a lot of sense.
Ageless One
Picked up a decent longshot for his pitching staff. He had a very favorable first start and showed he can still get the job done.
Reds
Swami has mixed emotions in this move for he likes both players. However he sez, the more valuable guy just could be the one acquired by this team. I don’t believe Damon will be a free agent for long.
Interesting speculation here Sez Swami. Barajas is a power hitter and if he gets good time behind the plate, l would expect him to get his fair share of good stats
Swami believes Kevin Gregg may be one legit closer in waiting and should be kept. Joel Pineiro could be a good starter, but I figure Gregg would be more appropriate for the Hitters roster.
I consider it very fortunate for Tenn to grab this guy before the West Coast manager who loves the Giants did. You caught him sleeping at the switch Swami thinks. Edgar Renteria has been a very consistent hitter and will continue to be for San Francisco .
Coyote Utley
Highly rated prospect for the Blue Jays looks decent to the Swami – much better than Mastersons chance with Oakland .
Swami thought this was a great pick-up, but Coyote changed his mind, replacing him later in the day.
Zonk
Swami likes this move for it is a good chance that Barry Zito could have an exceptional year. Keep in mind he sez, Zito finished 2009 strongly.
