Allen Co-Scottsville Lady Patriot Fast Pitch Softball Champions Ring Ceremony Scheduled

The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot softball team----the 2011 Kentucky High School Athletic Association state softball champions---will receive their state championship rings during a public ring ceremony scheduled for October 23rd.

Patriot softball capped off a 41-4-1 season June 11 with a 3-2 win over Louisville Ballard---a victory that gave AC-S softball their first ever state title. In the three day event, AC-S batted .380 as a team, recorded 52 hits and 38 runs in five games. The Patriots also had a fielding percentage of .958. The championship was the first state championship by any high school athletic team in Allen County’s history.

The ring presentation ceremony will start at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday October 23rd and will be held in the Allen County-Scottsville High School Gym. Patriot players, coaches, and support staff will receive their rings during the two hour event. Members of the community are invited to attend this celebration event and share in a piece of AC-S athletic history.

Allen County-Scottsville softball is a tradition-rich program which ranks among Kentucky’s finest. In 17 seasons, AC-S teams have an overall record of 472-171-4, seventh on the all-time list for wins in Kentucky. The Patriots have 14 consecutive seasons with 23 or more wins. Since 1998, AC-S has won 30 or more games eight times. The team has three consecutive years of 35 or more wins and this year’s 41 wins were the most ever by a softball team in the state.

Patriot fast pitch softball has 14 consecutive district titles and six regional crowns (2000, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, and 2011). Six times, the Patriots have finished in the top seven in state tournament play with this years’ state championship the capstone event to date.
